Welcome to I-JŌKŌ. These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of our website (www.i-joko.com), and your engagement with our products, services, and content. By accessing or using our website, you agree to these Terms.

1. ABOUT I-JŌKŌ

I-JŌKŌ is a registered design studio producing handcrafted furniture, spatial design, cultural research, and associated services. All products, content, and materials on this website are original works owned by I-JŌKŌ Ltd.

2. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

(Other than the exhibition images) All content on this website—including furniture designs, product images, written text, research, graphics, logos, videos, and downloadable materials—is the exclusive property of I-JŌKŌ and is protected under international copyright, design rights, and IP law.

You may not:

  • Copy, reproduce, distribute, or adapt any content;

  • Use our imagery or text for commercial purposes without written permission;

  • Replicate or manufacture any I-JŌKŌ designs, in whole or in part.

Unauthorised use of our IP will be pursued legally.

3. PRODUCT INFORMATION & CRAFT VARIATION

All I-JŌKŌ pieces are handcrafted and may show natural variations in material, grain, form, or finish. These variations are inherent to our process and are not considered defects.

Prices, specifications, or availability may change without notice.

4. ORDERS, PAYMENTS & LEAD TIMES

By placing an order, you confirm that:

  • You are legally authorised to enter into a contract;

  • The information provided is accurate.

  • You understand that production lead times vary by piece.

Payments must be completed before production begins. Custom orders may require additional documentation or a non-refundable deposit.

5. SHIPPING, DUTIES & DELIVERY

Shipping costs, duties, taxes, and import fees vary by region and are the customer's responsibility unless stated otherwise.

Delivery timelines are estimates. I-JŌKŌ is not liable for delays caused by third-party couriers, customs, or unforeseen events.

6. RETURNS, EXCHANGES & CANCELLATIONS

Because our pieces are handcrafted and often made to order, we do not accept returns or exchanges unless the item arrives damaged in transit.

Custom or bespoke items cannot be cancelled once production begins.

If you receive a damaged product, you must notify us within 48 hours with photographic evidence to qualify for a replacement assessment.

7. CONSULTATIONS & SERVICES

All consulting, design, research, and spatial services provided by I-JŌKŌ are subject to separate agreements or statements of work.
Work begins only after a written agreement has been signed.

8. USER CONDUCT

You agree not to:

  • misuse the website in any way;

  • attempt to gain unauthorised access to systems, data, or servers;

  • use the website in a manner that harms I-JŌKŌ or its users.

  • indirect or consequential damages;

  • decisions made based on website content.

All use of this site is at your own risk.

BEPOKSE DESIGN, ORDERS, PRODUCTION & DELIVERY (EXTENDED INVOICE TERMS & CONDITIONS)

1. SCOPE OF WORK

This invoice relates to the design, production, and delivery of the agreed item(s) as described in the invoice and/or accompanying quotation. All works are produced as limited-edition or bespoke pieces.

2. PRICING & PAYMENT

All prices are agreed in advance and confirmed in writing. Payment terms are as stated on the invoice. Production will not commence until the agreed payment or deposit has been received in full.

All bank charges, currency conversion fees, and international transfer fees are the responsibility of the client.

3. DELIVERY & INCOTERMS

Unless otherwise agreed in writing, delivery shall be made on a DAP (Delivered At Place) basis under Incoterms® 2020 to the delivery address provided by the client in writing.

Estimated delivery dates are provided in good faith and are not guaranteed. Delivery timelines may be subject to delays outside of I-JŌKŌ’s reasonable control, including fabrication schedules, shipping delays, customs clearance, or force majeure events.

Risk transfers to the client upon delivery of the item(s) to the agreed destination address.

4. INSPECTION ON DELIVERY
The client must inspect the item(s) upon delivery and notify I-JŌKŌ in writing of any visible damage, shortages, or defects within 48 hours of receipt.

Any damage to packaging or goods should be recorded with the carrier at the time of delivery and supported by photographic evidence. Failure to notify I-JŌKŌ within this timeframe may result in the claim being declined, except where the issue could not reasonably have been discovered upon delivery.

This clause does not affect the client’s rights under the applicable warranty for latent defects.

5. CUSTOMS, DUTIES & TAXES

Any import duties, customs fees, local taxes, clearance charges, or related costs applicable in the destination country are the responsibility of the client, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

6. WARRANTY

A 1-year materials and workmanship warranty and a 5-year structural warranty are provided from the date of delivery, covering defects arising under normal residential use.

This warranty does not cover:

  • Normal wear and tear

  • Damage caused by misuse, neglect, improper handling, or unauthorised repairs

  • Environmental damage, including but not limited to excessive humidity, heat exposure, or failure to maintain recommended conditions

  • Variations inherent to natural materials, finishes, or handcrafted production

7. WARRANTY CLAIMS & REPAIRS

Warranty claims must be submitted in writing within a reasonable time of discovery and supported by photographic or video evidence.

After expiry of the applicable warranty period, maintenance and repair services may be offered at an additional cost, subject to assessment and availability. All costs will be quoted and agreed in writing prior to commencement.

8. CARE & USE

The client is responsible for following all care, use, and maintenance guidance provided. Failure to comply may invalidate the warranty.

9. BESPOKE & HANDCRAFTED VARIATIONS

All items are handcrafted or produced in limited editions. Natural variations in materials, finishes, colour tone, texture, grain, veining, patina, and minor dimensional differences are inherent characteristics of bespoke production and do not constitute defects.

Samples, drawings, renders, or images are provided for guidance only. Minor variations from approved samples or visuals are acceptable and shall not give rise to rejection, refund, or warranty claims.

10. TRADE & COMMERCIAL CLIENTS

Where the client is purchasing as a trade, commercial, or business client (including but not limited to interior designers, developers, or corporate entities), the client confirms that the goods are not purchased for personal consumer use.

In such circumstances, statutory consumer protections applicable to individual consumers under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 may not apply, and the contract shall be governed by these terms as a business-to-business agreement.

11. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

All designs remain the intellectual property of I-JŌKŌ, unless otherwise agreed in writing. Purchase of an item does not grant any reproduction, licensing, or commercial rights.

12. CANCELLATIONS & REFUNDS

As all items are made to order or produced in limited editions, payments are non-refundable once production has commenced, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

13. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

To the fullest extent permitted by law, I-JŌKŌ shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or economic losses, including but not limited to loss of profits, loss of use, or business interruption.

I-JŌKŌ’s total liability arising out of or in connection with the contract shall be limited to the total amount paid by the client for the item(s) giving rise to the claim.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any liability which cannot be excluded under applicable law.

14. FORCE MAJEURE

I-JŌKŌ shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performance caused by events beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to divine acts, natural disasters, war, strikes, supply chain disruption, or governmental restrictions.

15. GOVERNING LAW

These terms and conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.

Nothing in these terms shall limit or exclude any rights the client may have under applicable consumer protection laws.
